Persuasive word whisperer Liesbeth: “I think I was born in the wrong era”

In February 2020, we welcomed this ever-positive Heart Hunter into our arms. Not much later, a strange virus blew over from China and we—like so many others—had to miss her for a long time. Now it’s your turn to get to know Persuasive word whisperer Liesbeth better.

Liesbeth is part of our five-member team of content marketers. In addition, she builds new, structural relationships with other editors and journalists. “The time when we only wrote texts is long behind us. We are getting to know companies and the people behind them better and better, building a relationship with them, and pouring the knowledge they share with us into a strong, persuasive text. With attention to findability on Google, but also on social media. Which budgets do we spend on which posts and on which channels?”

“Our range of tasks is very extensive, but that’s exactly what I find so great about the job. Just like the many types of copy we deal with: blogs, websites, magazines, advertisements… I wouldn’t be able to write long-winded texts or books every day. The variety is exactly what keeps it challenging.”

How difficult is it to step into the shoes of a different reader every time? “Our clients fall under a very wide range of sectors. Sometimes with very accessible products, but sometimes also very technical or niche products. That’s exactly when that good bond with the client comes in handy. The better we can collaborate on that content, the better the end customer responds to it and the stronger we can achieve the set ambitions.”

'Seeking out new interests remains important to continue finding happiness in life'

If Liesbeth didn’t convey joy through her pen or keyboard today, she would try to do so in a slightly tastier way. “If I could practice another profession for a year, I would want to do something with my hands. Learning the baker’s trade, for example.”

“I don’t think humans are made to practice only one profession for their entire lives. Excelling in one field is good. But seeking out new interests remains important to me to continue finding happiness in life, both during and outside of work.”

Liesbeth herself tries to contribute more than just a little to making other people happy. “During the first corona lockdown, I started Potje vol geluk (Jar full of happiness). As the name suggests: a jar that I fill with something homemade. Granola, a candle, you name it, with a nice little bag and a fun handmade card. The smile of the person receiving the gift, that is the big reward for me.”

Another thing that makes Liesbeth genuinely happy is music. “From Vivaldi to Abba or disco, the right music immediately sets the tone. It determines your mood and how you start your day. Recently, I picked up my old drumsticks again and re-enrolled at the academy. Drumming has been a passion since I was twelve; I’m happy I can finally start again. And my marimba always stays close by at home too.”

Liesbeth immediately grabs her calendar. “There are a few other musicians at Expliciet. Maybe it’s time to start a band? And a music quiz: that definitely has to happen! A bit of singing, acting crazy, planning some karaoke sessions, it’ll be great (laughs).”

Cards on the table

We welcome every Heart Hunter with their own unique playing card. Featuring their Expliciet totem name and greatest loves. Time to put the cards on the table and get to know them even better.

PERSUASIVE WORD WHISPERER

Word whisperer doesn’t just sound nice; to me, it also radiates something powerful. The idea that you can understand and sense someone better by using exactly the right words. Resulting in copy that is as persuasive, attractive, and active as possible, always tailored to the target audience.”

GOLDIES

“I’m a big fan of songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. What really gets me going? Anything by TOTO (laughs). Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong era. The music back then was much better structured and more musical than what we get served today.”

FRIENDS

“My sister and I grew up with Friends on good old VT4. Nothing but fond memories. In the evening after work or music lessons, I still like to watch an episode. My favorite character? Both Chandler and Ross, each with their own great sense of humor.”

COOKING

“On the weekends, I love to get baking. It can be anything: a rhubarb tart with banana, a brownie with plenty of nuts… But besides the sweet stuff, I also enjoy preparing savory dishes. As long as there’s sweet potato involved, it can never go wrong!”
